PKS says Ahmadiyah decree is the best solution
JP, The Prosperous Justice Party's faction at the House of Representatives says the joint ministerial Jamaah Ahmadiyah decree is the best solution.
"Whatever the decision, it is the best solution for the time being," said faction head Mahfudz Siddiq on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara newswire. Siddiq spoke to journalists on the sidelines of
a House of Representatives plenary session in Jakarta.
He argued that whatever the government decided on regarding Ahmadiyah could lead to conflict.
If the government took a tough policy to disband the sect, Ahmadiyah and its supporters would have resisted. Even with the government floating its decision and issuing the decree, there is still the potential for conflict, said Siddiq.
Siddiq called on the public to watch the implementation of the decree, which was issued by the Religious Affairs Ministry, the Home Ministry and the Attorney General's Office on Monday.
"If we find anything that is not in line we the decree, we can use it as a legal reason to dissolve Ahmadiyah," he said. (**)
